Intricate Hand-drawn Folio Invitation

One-Of-A-Kind Hand-Drawn Folio Wedding Invitations

Wow there have been a BUNCH of awesome designs leaving the studio recently!  I can't wait to post!  Literally... finger on the "post" button... but I have to wait at least until the guests receive them.  It's only fair.  So for now, I will share this little ditty that was by far and away the most time consuming project we have ever taken on.   This gorgeous folio invitation was created for a London bride who wanted something elegant, classic, and ornate, without being frumpy, or blinged-out.  Since all I do is sparkly stuff, I saw this as a challenge I was glad to take on.

The folio was crafted out of Baguette dupioni silk and wrapped with a sumptuous Antique Rose satin ribbon, and finished with a hand painted filigree "buckle" finding.  The original proof version was a beautiful honey colored crushed taffeta (see below) --a material that surprisingly difficult to find. But the color was slightly too dark for the bride, so we replaced it with a delicious dupioni instead.

Folio, schmolio you may be saying.  What makes that so special?  Well, the literally hundreds of hours it took to hand draw all the ornate scroll work on each invitation and enclosure card.  Each piece has a hand drawn and colored frame, and is finished with a hand painted metallic gold border.

The result was a super stunning, extraordinarily unique folio invitation the bride LOVED!

I have to say, it turned out exquisitely. But I have to be honest... I am still getting over the sheer amount of work it took to complete.  Not sure I'll be introducing another hand-drawn piece to our line-up anytime soon, but there is something to be said for one-of-a-kind designs. :)
