Wholly busy Batman! It has been forever since I had a chance to post anything new coming out of the Studio, and we've had A LOT! Gorgeous silk invitations (of course), The most fabulous letterpress design I have seen, new acrylic invitations... the pile of new things to update you on keeps getting higher. This gorgeous sapphire blue and silver embellished silk box invitation is only but a taste ;)

We started by creating an asymmetrical 5" x 7" gatefold box. The asymmetry is actually a necessary component, it's not just stylistic. Without it, we wouldn't be able to create a pocket big enough to fit a standard response card.
The box was embellished with 3" wide satin ribbon and a sparkling teardrop rhinestone hook and eye closure. We're in the process of making embellishments available online so our DIY folks can pick and choose their embellishments and have us manufacture their own custom embellished silk boxes... but of course, that is still a work in progress :) For now, you can see some of our embellishments at:

The invitation itself was printed on bright white stock and framed out with silver cardstock, all wrapped up with silver satin corner pockets. Sparkling sapphire blue cardstock matted the response card.

An interesting way to create visual drama when you don't quite have the budget for a high end printing process like letterpress or engraving is to use two colors. It adds the illusion of depth, creating an overall sophisticated, elegant look, while incorporating more than one of your colors. We recently created a logo with shades of grey that resulted in an engraved look... even though it was flat printed. pretty cool trick for the DIY set ;)

To add a little interest, we varied the matting for all enclosures. Sapphire sparkle on the response set and accommodation cards, and silver metallic on the reception card.

Although it is hard to say these are "simple" designs, the simple elegance of this invitation is rooted in the refrained use of embellishments. Love, Love, Love!
